WINE
Below is a sample of our range of wines in returnable and refillable bottles from Sustainable Wine Solutions at Borough Wines. These wines change frequently so for full details please register with us to gain access to the online shop.
Borough Wines receive the wine direct from the producers in 1000 litre reuseable tanks to their bottling plant in Walthamstow. Because this is a professional bottling service, there is no requirement to drink the wine within a short period, it will last as any other bottled wine would. The bottles are delivered to us in reusable plastic crates.
The beauty of this system is that it will entirely cut out the carbon footprint of international transport of all the glass and massively reduce the carbon footprint of dealing with recycling the bottles through the waste and recycling system. There will only be the carbon footprint of getting the bottles from Walthamstow to us and back and that of washing the bottles and tanks.
So the bottle return scheme brings a new, sustainable lease of life to the traditional wine bottle: each one can be returned, sterilised and reused at least 30 times, reducing the carbon footprint of each bottle by up to 95%.
